Benard

From Tel'Laerad Wiki

A world, torn asunder...

A hostile planet. Benard was once the utopia of the galaxy. It's been three hundred years since the apocalypse, but people still tell tales of the Old World. Others stopped believing it existed. The world's moved on, and most settlements are seeing a steady incline in population. Yeah, times are good. Especially for those adventuring folk... people want answers, adventurer want riches and fame. And the answers are out there... in those ruins.

Benard is a post-apocalyptic world. Normal folk spend most of their lives where they're born, and business folk travel swift, armed, and paranoid (or with hired men). It's a decent life, within the settlements, a simple life. But outside the towns, on the surface it's a battle for survival.

The world of Benard is set in a post-apocalyptic era which borrows elements of steam-punk and sci-fi but is also ripe with weapons that don't see practical use on the battlefield today - swords, spears and their like are not uncommon, and while some vehicles exist it is often more accessible to travel by horse and carriage. An entire world was thrown into chaos, a perfect race rapidly travelled backwords through the evolutionary ladder... nobody knows how, or why. Fragments of information and technology from the 'Old World' circulate between the people, governmentary factions and adventurers. Some factions want to restore Benard for what it was, whilst others, for whatever peculiar end they strive to, hunt down anybody in possession of the Old World's secrets and technology, and destroy the evidence.

This doesn't stop the adventurers, though... cliques, bands, troupes. Adventurers all over the globe aspire to discover the Old World's riches for themselves; hundreds of dungeons, ruins and ditches out there, each one filled with treasure.

Character Information

I'm trying something different with Benard. For the first time, Benard shall be experienced from the slice of life style, outside of the dungeons that lay underfoot. As such, character information required is very little. Name, items of importance/interest and a summary of the character's general skills will suffice.
