Official Channel Rules
From Tel'Laerad Wiki
This page documents the official channel rules of Tel'Laerad. Those under "All Channel" apply to all official channels, with additional sections giving rules for individual channels where needed.
These rules are enforced as channel rules, not network rules, by the network staff, and thus will only be responded to with channel-level action, with the exception of #help, which is viewed as a crucial part of network infrastructure and in which channel rules may be enforced with network powers.

All Channels
Stay halfway classy, and do not be inane.
In essence, don't be excessively inane, and behave generally respectfully towards other users. Do not make the atmosphere unpleasant, and avoid excessive swearing, textspeak or similar. Specific things prohibited under this rule include, but are not limited to:
- Use of nicks containing profanity.
- Use of profanity as (or in place of) punctuation.
- Excessive use of textspeak or terrible spelling/grammar.
- Speaking for an extended time in a language no one else understands.
- Tasteless or immature sexually explicit conversation.
- Links intended for psychological shock value.
If we think you're making the place unpleasant, we will ask you to stop; please do so.
Unnecessarily sexually-explicit conversation is not permitted.
Sexually explicit conversation (directly discussing or naming sexual organs or the details of acts), except where entirely unavoidable in the mature and tasteful discussion of science or other serious topics, is not permitted within any official channel.
"Funny because it's dirty" or random mention/bringing up/connecting to the current topic of sexual acts or organs is right out. If you are not very sure it is required as part of a mature and tasteful conversation, you must not be explicit.
Tag mature links as NSFW.
Mature links posted must be tagged as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW, a generally accepted tag indicating explicit content. This tag must be given before or on the same line as the link. Mature includes both sexually explicit content and excessive gore.
No spamming, abuse of colours or other formatting codes, or abuse of capitals.
Do not spam, or abuse, colours, other formatting codes, or capitals; use of these things in moderation is perfectly fine (normal capitalisation is even desirable) but overusing them is painful to the eyes of other users, which is unwanted.
#help
NOTE: This is the only channel where both all channel rules and its own channel rules may be enforced with network powers, where necessary.
No lasting discussion off the topic of the channel, which is support and suggestions for Tel'Laerad.
Continued discussion off the topic of the channel interferes with helping other users. While idling in the channel is certainly permitted, as is unofficial help to other users, random conversations unrelated to support and suggestions for Tel'Laerad are not, and would be better taken elsewhere, such as the lobby.
#signal
No evading ROBOT9000 through spam/abuse of the language.
ROBOT9000 will kick users who say a line which has already been said; this is part of the purpose of the channel, and exists to encourage long, detailed lines actually expressing some unique message. This can, rather trivially, be avoided simply by adding gibberish to lines, or by deliberately misspelling words. As this rather circumvents the point of the bot and channel in the first place, this is against channel rules.
